Nine in Nine

Inspired by Oh Hello Friend’s Twelve By 2012 project and subsequent lists I’ve seen friends post on their blogs (here and here), I’ve decided to pull together a list of goals I’d like to achieve before the year is out – with a twist, I’m calling mine ‘Nine in Nine’ (nine weeks that is).

While I might not necessarily be able to cross off one task each week, I’m going to loosely use the week-to-week format as a guide to keep me focused. Some weeks I might have my over-achiever hat on and get more than one goal completed, and others I might be swamped and unable to get to my list at all. Which is totally fine by me, applying more pressure certainly isn’t the aim!

I don’t know about you but I always feel really inspired in the last couple of months of the year. November is my birthday month (and therefore my favourite month by default) but ever since I was a child I’ve felt like as soon as November 1 rolls around, I get this surge of much-needed energy that helps me tie up loose ends before letting my hair down over the Christmas break.

So here goes, over the next nine weeks before December 31 rolls around, I aim to cross the following nine goals off my list:

1 // Send three handwritten letters  – one to my Grandma in Ireland (who is very sick at the moment) and at least two others (not sure who the recipients will be yet).

2 // Create the first draft plan for the eBook that’s been dancing around in my mind.

3 // Eat a big salad at least five times per week. This one should be pretty easy to achieve but I’m putting it on the list as a reminder, especially as eating habits notoriously slide off into NaughtyTown at this time of year! Commiting to eating a big salad full of veggies five times a week means I need to eat one every day at work for lunch, or if I miss one for lunch, dinner needs to be salad that night.

4 // Develop an editorial calendar filled with post ideas for In Spaces Between until Christmas and stick to it.

5 // Have a technology-free day with my fiance, preferably on a mini-getaway. I’d love to say ‘technology-free weekend’ but it’s hard at the moment with wedding planning, so let’s just start with ‘day’ shall we!

6 // Exercise six days a week without fail. I’m currently doing five days a week pretty consistently but weekends haven’t been as regular, so I want to make sure I have one hard session on a Saturday or Sunday morning.

7 // Spoil my mum on a mother/ daughter day. Lunch and a facial sounds pretty good to me!

8 // Create moodboards for our wedding. It’s time to refine my vision for the table settings, flowers and overall styling of our Big Day.

9 // Read two of the books sitting on my bedside table.

+ Now it’s your turn – what are some of the niggling tasks, or fun things you haven’t had a chance to do yet, that you want to complete before 2011 is out? Think about starting 2012 feeling fresh and ready to embrace the New Year! I’d love you to share your list below, and feel free to have as many or as little items on there as you like. x

Beaut list! Can’t wait for more deets on your eBook!

My ‘photo book’ I had on my list has suddenly turned into another project that is a million times bigger than I first planned out, pretty excited! Can’t wait to share more.

Hope your Grandma’s okay! Nothing like a good hand written letter for a bit of a pick me up. No doubt she would love one from her sweet granddaughter.

    xx

  2. Thanks sweets, the eBook is a mid-2012 idea but want to get the bare bones down so that I have something to work with. Lots of other priorities before then!

Can’t wait to see/ hear all about your new project — with you at the helm, it will be a total success and will look damn amazing I’m sure.

She’s a trooper! She’s 94 now so has lived a long life but has had a range of health difficulties this year which isn’t good at all. She’ll definitely love a letter with some recent photos thrown in xxx

  8. Its like you read my mind! You appear to know a lot about this, like
you wrote the book in it or something. I think
that you could do with a few pics to drive the message home a little
bit, but instead of that, this is wonderful blog.

An excellent read. I’ll certainly be back.
